Quick snippets from our morning read on Friday, 18th December 2020
The Holidays are here. We shall definitely be celebrating rather differently this year because of.. well, we all know. With the Holidays, we have an opportunity to not only take a breather, but to connect with family and stop for a moment to focus on the small things that matter.
In our last morning read of the year, we’d like to explore the subject of taking a break. Here is a short but sweet and reflective article by Dakota Griffis
It’s Okay To Take A Breather
1. You Are Top Priority
Although we become accustomed to the same daily rituals and stresses, its important to realize that you are top priority. At the end of the day, you will ALWAYS have yourself. Taking a problem and covering it up with a band-aide won’t help you out in the long run, but continue the cycle and allow the piles to build up higher. Taking on large amounts of stress majorly impacts your health leading to sleep impediments, clouded thinking and feeling as if you’re living in auto pilot.
2. Your Mindset Is Key
I don’t know if you realize, but every thought comes from you. More specifically, your mind. If you wake up on a Monday morning already assuming that you’re going to have an exhausting awful day, well because it’s Monday you definitely will. There really isn’t anything more important to understand than your own mind. It’s extremely difficult to take the bad thoughts and replace them with good ones when you feel stressed out, but it is the first step to making a difference. If you think things will get better for you, they will.
3. Your Surroundings Matter
Surround yourself with people that make you happy. Get out with your friends and family and occupy your mind with something that has you feeling good, not allowing your mind and stress to consume you into a puddle of unhappiness. Get in touch with nature, seriously, it is so relaxing. Go sit beside the beach or on top of a mountain and just breathe and remind yourself how important you are, and how lucky you are to be alive.
